The MPS School Board Recall Collaborative is a grassroots organization dedicated to ensuring accountability and transparency within the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) system. We are committed to recalling and replacing ineffective board members to improve the quality of education for all students in Milwaukee.
About the Role
Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Lead Petition Organizers. This is a paid opportunity where you can earn an excellent hourly wage, bonuses and other incentives when petition collection goals are exceeded. As a Lead Petition Organizer, you will play a crucial role in our grassroots efforts to help recall ineffective MPS elected board members. Key Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with community members to inform them about the MPS School Board Recall campaign and the importance of their participation.
Collect signatures from eligible voters in Milwaukee.
Ensure all signatures are collected in compliance with Wisconsin state laws and regulations.
Track and report progress on signature collection, ensuring accuracy and validity of all collected signatures.
Maintain detailed records of all interactions and submitted signatures.
Ensure all collected signatures are verified as city of Milwaukee residents before submission.
Complete mandatory training session and attend team meetings as required.
Implement coordinated canvassing activities, including door-to-door outreach, tabling at events, and community meetings.
Submit collected signatures weekly for verification and payment processing.
Represent the MPS School Board Recall Collaborative in a professional and respectful manner at all times. Compensation: $Hourly wages starting at $25/hour, with added bonuses and other incentives.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in fast-paced work environments.
Previous experience in community organizing and outreach, canvassing, sales, political campaigning, or a related field.
Self-driven with an ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong leadership and team management skills.Â
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Â
Familiarity with Milwaukee communities and neighborhoods.Â
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the City of Milwaukee.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Ability to approach and engage with people in various settings.
Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately record information.
Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
